Folks:

To prevent further agita on the stats front, here's what we're going to do. League rules require you to submit game files and box scores. If you play a series and do not have these, don't send out an email and subsets. Replay the series. Thanks. GAR

DODGE CITY -- Taking pity on an inferior Anderson Windows management team, the Dodge City BakoDusters agreed to ship offensive help south of the Mason Dixon Line.

Utility player Greg Dobbs, one of the few BakoDusters batters where they root for the hitters' card, heads to the Windows for Round 5. Dodge City will receive its choice of Jerry Hairston Jr., Mitch Stetter or Anderson's 5th round pick in 2010. A decision must be entered by midnight July 21, when Anderson must clear the value off its books.

That date wasn't arrived at after a compromise in which dates from July 15 to 31 were considered. A simple Wikipedia search uncovered the following tidbits about July 21.

July 21, 1969 -- Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin become the first men to walk on the Moon, during the Apollo 11 mission. Nineteen years later, Gar Joseph would select Reds pitcher Jack Armstrong and declare, "He'll be the first pitcher to walk on the mound." No one laughs.

July 21, 1403 -- The Battle of Shrewsbury is waged, with King Henry IV of England defeating rebels to the north of the county town of Shropshire, England. Centuries later, Dodge City would defeat rebels to the south in Venice to capture its first World Series.

July 21, 1919 -- The dirigible Wingfoot Air Express crashes into the Illinois Trust and Savings Building in Chicago, killing 12 people. Luckily, Andy Roth wasn't living there, yet.

July 21, 1997 -- The fully restored USS Constitution (aka "Old Ironsides") celebrates her 200th birthday by setting sail for the first time in 116 years. Glen Macnow, the ship's first captain, pilots her voyage.

July 21, 1861 -- The American Civil War has its final Battle of Bull Run, Va., won by Robert E. Lee's Confederate Army. More than century later, the Gerack brothers wage their own Civil War, an outcome that has yet to be determined.

July 21, 356 BC (I'd like to see proof of this date) -- Herostratus sets fire to the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. As a replacement, the Greek build a statue that would look eerily like Jeff Smith, the real sevehth wonder.

July 21, 1873 -- In Adair, Iowa, Jesse James and the James-Younger gang pull off the first successful train robbery in the American West. Inspired by this event the Macnow gang picked up where James left, only he calls them "fair trades."

July 21, 2007 -- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final book in the bestselling Harry Potter series is released. Two years later, the Duster franchise enters the very same Deathly Hallows.

BakoDusters GM Doug Glanville announced the deal early Saturday morning. Anderson owner Kerry Waller, vacationing in Alabama, will confirm. He'll likely also suggest that Dodge City owner Ken Mandel has far too much free time.
